A Day out with Conscious Climbing
Arrival & Orientation
Meet your guide at the trailhead of The Thinking Spot (Directions found here), get fitted with gear, and review the plan and safety protocol for the day. From there, we begin the 10-minute hike to the base of the climbing area.
Climbing & Instruction
Learn foundational movement and fundamental safety systems while climbing routes appropriate to your experience and comfort level.
Progression & Repetition
Develop composure on the wall through multiple climbs with coaching, feedback, and opportunities to refine movement and technique.
Wrap-Up
Hike back to the trailhead, debrief the session, ask questions, and discuss next steps for those interested in continuing their journey on the wall.
OUR COMMITMENT TO SAFETY
Outdoor recreation carries inherent risk. Whether skiing, paddling, or climbing on natural rock, certain elements cannot be fully controlled. Conscious Climbing recognizes this reality and approaches each program with a disciplined system designed to reduce exposure to hazards in the outdoor environment.
Our risk management approach focuses on identifying and managing controllable elements—such as equipment, communication, supervision, and site selection—while continuously assessing variables like weather, rock conditions, and human factors. Through clear communication, we help participants understand both the nature of these risks and how they are responsibly managed.
Our procedures align with American Mountain Guides Association single-pitch instructing practices, operational requirements set forth by the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, and CBIZ Adventure Sports Insurance. Risk management begins before the group leaves the trailhead, continues throughout all climbing activities, and concludes only after every participant has safely returned from the days adventure.
Our aim is to promote awareness, reduce preventable risks, and support informed decision-making—creating a climbing experience that is both responsible and meaningful.
